MPs appreciate UNBS Food Safety Laboratories

Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) on Thursday 31st October 2019 hosted Members of Parliament on the Committee of Tourism, Trade and Industry for a courtesy visit. UNBS puts supermarkets on notice to stop selling uncertified products

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has reiterated its call to supermarkets to stop selling uncertified products. The “Use of UNBS Distinctive Mark, 2018” requires that all products covered by compulsory standards must be certified and issued with UNBS Distinctive Mark before they are allowed on the Market. https://blog.unbs.go.ug/?p=10932


UNBS seals off Makip (U) Ltd for dealing in substandard products

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has sealed off Makip (U) Limited in Ntenjeru Town Council for manufacturing plastic carrier bags of less than 30 microns contrary to Uganda Standard US 773:2007, Plastic Carrier bags and flat bags – Specification. EAC Experts develop baking powder standards

In line with the East African Community (EAC) principles and procedures for harmonization of standards, the East Africa Standards Committee on Food additives (EASC/TC 005) has developed the Draft East African Standard (DEAS 993: 2019) for Baking powder. The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is calling upon the public to comment on the suitability of the draft standard starting 24th October to 23rd  December 2019. https://blog.unbs.go.ug/?p=10922


Honey Standard to improve trade and production of quality products

Trade and production of quality honey is set to improve following the revision and development of the draft Standard for Table honey (DEAS 36-1: 2019) Honey — Specification — Part 1. The East Africa Standards Committee on Apiary and apiary product (EASC/TC 011) developed and revised the Draft East African standards in line with EAC principles and procedures of harmonization of standards. https://blog.unbs.go.ug/?p=10925

Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) on Thursday bid farewell to one of its long serving employees, Hellen Mary Wenene. Wenene joined the bureau in 2007 as a prosecutor from Director of Public Prosecution (DPP’s) Office. https://blog.unbs.go.ug/?p=10944
