Public urged to comment on draft pasteurized liquid eggs standards

Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is calling upon the public to comment on the suitability of the draft Pasteurised liquid eggs standard, DUS 2170: 2019 Pasteurized liquid eggs — Specification, for implementation.

UNBS exceeds targets!

Previously challenged by limited funds, the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has exceeded its income targets by over six billion shillings in the first and second quarter of financial year 2019/2020.

The UNBS Deputy Executive Director in charge of Compliance, John Paul Musimami, revealed this and commended UNBS staff for their contribution to the improved performance and surplus, citing the contribution made by the imports inspection department, Legal metrology, Market Surveillance, Legal department and the Public Relations division. https://blog.unbs.go.ug/?p=11073


UNBS suspends Vargin beauty (U) Ltd operations

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has suspended production operations of Vargin Beauty (U) Limited located in Muyenga Bukasa close, Wakiso district.

This, after the UNBS surveillance team found 39 Sacks of the banned Carolight cream of 300ml, 24 Boxes of Carolight cream of 300ml and 39 Sacks of Empty containers of Carolight and Princes Clair at the premises, giving an impression that the factory could be reblending the creams to produce the Vargin Beauty products contrary to US EAS 377-1: 2013, Cosmetics and cosmetic products — Part 1: List of substances prohibited in cosmetic products. https://blog.unbs.go.ug/?p=11076
