Petroleum industry standards harmonized to facilitate trade across EAC member states

Vodka manufacturer charged for illegal use of UNBS quality mark

The Standards court has charged David Ochieng, the proprietor of Parambot Distillers (U) Ltd the manufacturer of Royal Vodka for using the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) Quality mark illegally contrary to the UNBS Act as amended 2013. https://blog.unbs.go.ug/?p=11110

UNBS seizes Lady Maureen cosmetics containing Hydroquinone

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has seized dozens of beauty products found at the Lady Maureen salon and beauty centre in Mengo, Kampala. This is after laboratory tests confirmed that the cosmetics contain Hydroquinone, contrary to US EAS 377-1: 2013, Cosmetics and cosmetic products — Part 1: List of substances prohibited in cosmetic products. https://blog.unbs.go.ug/?p=11116

UNBS market surveillance and product safety
