UNBS-British Standards Institute (BSI) collaboration under CSN programme extended by 12 months

The British Standards Institute (BSI) has extended its collaboration with Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) through the Commonwealth Standards Network Programme (CSN), for 12 more months.

Vargin Beauty (U) Ltd proprietor charged for using prohibited products

The Proprietor of Vargin Beauty (U) Ltd has been fined 40 million shillings for the manufacture of cosmetics that do not conform to standards.

The products were found at the factory premises during a UNBS surveillance inspection, giving an impression that the factory could be reblending the creams to produce the Vargin Beauty products which is contrary to US EAS 377-1: 2013, Cosmetics and cosmetic products — Part 1: List of substances prohibited in cosmetic products. https://blog.unbs.go.ug/?p=11131

 

Halaal Water & Beverages proprietor fined for illegal use of Q-mark

The Standards court has fined Jjunju Musa, the proprietor of Halaal Water and Beverages Company for manufacturing substandard packaged mineral water and use of the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) Quality mark illegally contrary to the UNBS Act as amended 2013.

Musa pleaded guilty to the charges and was fined 11 million shillings for the offences. https://blog.unbs.go.ug/?p=11127
