  • THE INDEPENDENT; UNBS to enforce standards of face masks. The Uganda National Bureau of Standards has warned the manufacturers, importers and dealers in facemasks and face shields to strictly follow the standards. This comes ahead of the reopening of the education sector by the government, which would see the demand for facemasks and shields increase in a few months. READ MORE HERE

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has pledged to provide both monetary and non-monetary support to manufacturers of hand sanitisers and disinfectants, as the country continues grappling with the global Covid-19 pandemic.   • UGANDA RADIO NETWORK: Manufacturers of Hand Sanitizers Decry Substandard Products. Local manufactures have called on the government to limit the importation of sanitizers, saying the Ugandans are being out competed by the cheap imports. READ MORE HERE.
  • THE INDEPENDENT; Manufacturers of hand sanitizers decry substandard products. Manufacturers of hand sanitizers have decried the presence of substandard and counterfeit products on the market. The demand for hand sanitizers shot up in April last year following the outbreak of coronavirus in Uganda, as Ugandans learnt that it was an effective way of killing almost of all germs. The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has called upon all companies with laboratories to ensure that they adhere to the quality standards for laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025:2017) and the general requirements for testing and calibration laboratories (ISO 9001) requirements.   • BUSINESS FOCUS – UNBS Urges Companies To Adhere To Laboratory Standards. The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has called upon all companies with laboratories to ensure that they adhere to the quality Standards for laboratories; ISO/IEC 17025:2017 General requirements for testing and calibration laboratories, ISO 9001 requirements.
